CDG joins Notting Hill Carnival

Posted on August 22, 2013

Big colours, exuberant crowds and performers at every angle can mean only one thing: Notting Hill Carnival. Coming to London this weekend, it is time that your dusted your head dress, paint your face and prepare for the absurdity that can only be found in a crowd hell bent on celebrating every inch of life. Take inspiration from the CDG family and have a carnival everyday.

Get ready for a weekend of characters with Kamion's Pig Tricycle . A monkey clad in tattoo's and hat sits astride a pig fitted with wheels and pedals, and a pocket watch tucked into his skin, creating a taxi ride in a whole new light. The sheer absurdity of the set up, the animal leading the animal and the irony of the human costume perfectly set the carnival tone.

Not your costume of choice? Take Darren Macpherson's  collection of masked females for inspiration. From the fiery red of Just.Love.Me and the cat like eye mask, frivolity is unleashed in sensual colours.

Now with your costume acquired, time to create the carnival. With performers twisting at every angle, Vicky Scott's Fille du Cirque Russe lingers long into the night woth flashed of primary colours emerging form the darkness and swinging from side to side. Never a moment of stillness in Notting Hill this weekend.

Have fun, and stay safe!-Sinéad (Mum mode)
