CDG and Antlers Gallery: Collaboration in the arts
Posted on October 31, 2013
Curious Duke Gallery are happy to announce a collaboration with Bristol based Antlers Gallery. Opening tomorrow 1st November until 9th, our two part exhibition project (part 2 to come to Bristol in Spring'14) will see 8 CDG artists exhibit alongside 8 Antler's Gallery artists in Kindred, forging new projects and bridging the UK art scene, which throws light on the importance of collaboration in the arts.
Collaboration has always been a key idea in the arts, but with austerity measures biting more and more, the arts industry is pushing into new relationships. Collaboration rules out artists working within a vacuum, which is the death of creativity. Artists critiquing each other, projects being questioned and ideas being voiced serve to strengthen core concepts and ensures healthy progress. This alone makes collaboration the key to a healthy arts scene in the UK.
Moreover, bringing together artists and companies also means pooling resources and sharing the best with you. We know you can't follow every creative project, gallery or artists career, so by sharing our knowledge amongst ourselves, we can offer you the very best in talent, and bring it to new audiences every time.
Eleni Duke and Jack Gibbon, the gallery directors respectively will join a panel discussion with art critic Tabish Khan, and artists Kate Knight and Tim Lane to discuss collaboration rules, the online market and how to survive in the current climate. A Q&A session will follow, however tickets are limited, available FREE here.
