All you need is love- Give art this Valentine's Day

Posted on January 30, 2014

Part 1

Valentine's can be a tricky day of romantic pressure, so as my Mum always says use the five p's- prior preparation prevents poor performance. Over the next two weeks we'll be bringing you blog posts to get you set for wooing on the 14th February- and to help you say the words you may be finding a little difficult. Now we know men aren't always known as romantics, and some of us ladies (maybe just me), but you'll be surprised at just how much they'll appreciate a token. Let the art do the talking.

Ahem...I can't find the words to say, but this can...

So you've been together for a while...

Mr Four Fingers

Love Thy Black Heart

Acrylic and enamel and spray paint on paper.

59x84cm

£450

Now I know that cynical romance exists, and embrace it, it is as valid as any other form of romance. If your heart is as black and tortured as this duo's creation, maybe it's time you gave your girlfriend/boyfriend a hint at just how much you adore them. Ice Kings and Queens just consider melting a little and watch their surprise and you'll become a romantic addict. In a dark, cynical way of course.

Carly Ashdown

The Garden

Acrylic on Canvas

15x15cm

£68

I'm not going to say these are for him or her, because quite frankly everyone appreciates flowers, but if like me you feel a bit sad about cut flowers, Carly Ashdown has immortalised the splash of colour and delicacy of flowers in this beautiful canvas, that stay vibrant for years to come. And possibly mean you never have to remember to buy flowers again.

Otto D'Ambra

I suspect you've picked up on quite a few odd but loveable habits from your sweetheart, you probably tease them about it. So, immortalise just how cute it is.

If they're spontaneous and it scares you a little...

Dangerous Animal

Dry point print, limited edition of 25

28x29cm

£150

Or is it their crazy ideas that add colour to your life, how could you ever be bored around them?

Imagination and Courage

Dry point print, limited edition of 15

25x30cm

£95

But really, doesn't it all make you feel as suave as a kid in a Little Tyke, all excited and restless?

Mark Hayward

Little Tyke

Giclee print of illustration, limited edition of 100

30x30cm

£90

Don't worry nobody is ever really suave.
