1. Sage Vaughn : Nobody's Home

11 Rathbone Place
London
W1T 1HR
Jan 31 - Mar 1
FREE

The artwork by Sage Vaughn, which forms the first solo show of 2014, focuses on wildlife in domestic interiors, featuring the birds and butterflies which have become a familier motif in his work. The beautifully ornate creatures are off set against the stale and mundane interiors which explore the phrase 'Nobody's Home'.

2.VICTOIRE DE CASTELLANE
'Animalvegtablemineral'
Jan 28 - Feb 1, 2014
17-19 Davies Street
London W1K 3DE

'My jewels are propositions. From the outset, this involves making an object that constructs itself out of many different things, and that sometimes ends up surpassing even what I had imagined for it. It is no longer primarily an accessory; it becomes something larger. It speaks about concept and form as opposed to objective value. It becomes sculpture.'
—Victoire de Castellane

Victoire De Castellane's collection for Dior 'redefined and revived haute joaillerie'. Starting off as a sculptor, Victoire is drawn to materials, and uses them like no other. 'Animalvegetablemineral' takes the nature of materials at their starting point, their rawest form, using them purely for their beauty.

3.Paul Klee: Making Visible
Tate Britain
Bankside
SE1 9TG
16 Oct 13 - 9 Mar 14
Adults: £16.50 Cons: £14.50

Paul Klee is one of the great innovators of the twentieth-century. With a series of intimate rooms with work hung with enough room between them you are encouraged to linger and concentrate on one piece at a time. The show presents a fantastic array of intricate art work, which in scale are much smaller than the other leading artists of the time, but also a fantastic approach to hanging from curator Matthew Gale.

4. Martin Creed: What's the Point of it?
Hayward Gallery
London
SE1 8XX
Jan 31 - Apr 27

Martin believes 'what's the point of it?' is the question that needs to be asked. The exhibition displays large scale works which use every imaginable material and medium, all seemingly to 'make a big nothing'. This only reiterates his suspicion towards both the gallery and what we call 'art'. This is not your typical exhibition, and it abounds with self-referential humour, creating a completely immersive and enjoyable experience.

5.Isaac Julien: Playtime
Victoria Miro
16 Wharf Road
London
N1 7RW
Jan 31 - Mar 1
FREE

The video installation explore the dramatic subject of capital. With seven screens suspended theatrically from the cieling of the vast gallery, this exhibition really is a spectacle to behold. The videos combine lavish interiors with architecture along with city scapes while following a variert of emblematic characters; an oppressed domestic maid; a bankrupt artist; a posturing art dealer.
