Help the Big Issue Foundation find Roy's People
Image
The Big Issue Foundation and artist Roy’s People have a competition to find thirty little people in a one day hunt across Covent Garden! Think you can find one? It's all for a brilliant cause.
The Big Issue Foundation tells us how to enter the competition...
Sometimes Big Issue vendors tell us that they feel invisible on the streets. So when Roy’s People contacted the Big Issue with an idea to make people pay a bit more attention to the world of life on the streets, the answer was simple. Yes!
On 2 April, join in our (little) man hunt as thirty of Roy’s People will be dotted all over the streets of Covent Garden, one of London’s busiest hotspots. Tagged alongside each of the little characters will be their story, which is also a real snapshot from the life story of a Big Issue vendor. And! For those who manage to spot at least one of Roy’s People, take a picture and send it to [email protected] win a unique piece of signed Roy’s People artwork. If you’re having trouble locating Roy’s People, why not ask the nearest Big Issue vendor standing by... Makes sure you email by 3rdApril, with the winner being announced on the 4thApril.
Roy’s People tells us that “People aren't just searching for a piece of boring art, they are searching for a character, a little person that just has that extra bit of charm that we warm to. This hunt is something that people of all ages and backgrounds can be involved with, kids, grownups (big kids), homeless people, oldies, anyone can search for the little people!” As featured in the Mail Online, Time Out and The Other Art Fair, Roy’s People live in a world of cheeky micro-installations, all aimed to encourage people to see art in a different –less serious- light.
Roy’s People are exhibiting “Street Life” at the Curious Duke gallery from 3 April and proceeds from a silent auction of one of the exhibited artworks will be donated to the Big Issue Foundation. Bids can be given at the gallery, or via [email protected] .
Silja Andersen, Big Issue Foundation: “This collaboration is very exciting for The Big Issue Foundation as Roy’s unique ability to engage and open people’s eyes beautifully brings light to the work and journeys of our incredible vendors.” The Big Issue costs just ï¿¡2.50 and vendors buy their own copies of the magazine for ï¿¡1.25 per copy.
