Art inspired holiday activities
The six weeks of school summer holidays have arrived, and you may be scratching your head for ideas that don't involve screens, or great expense. Luckily, I have a few art inspired ideas for you and your family- and they're all FREE!
Roy's People is playful and hilarious. His taxidermy butterflies in Life Small through to XL wistfully play with insect kites that fly high above miniature park scenes of children holding on for dear life and couples on park benches.

So my idea is, why not make your own kite! The internet is full of useful links on how to make your own kite, and you can make it any animal you like, in all the colours ever imagined. Let's go fly a kite...

No, I'm thinking of harvest festival and wishing the summer away, rather why not get out and go fruit picking? Blackberries are out in force at the moment, all free of charge thanks to Mother Nature.

Rawlings uses his childhood and his love of the countryside to inspire his work. The fun of running wild, climbing trees and building dens doesn't have to be bygone era, find your local park and gather what you can, maybe even making miniature dens.
So my idea is, why not collect twigs, leaves and anything else your can scavenge, to make your own landscapes, maybe even to make a stencil that is reminiscent of Rawling's own cut out vintage saws?

Oil painter Tyrimos Rooftop Dreamin' doesn't have to be such a fantasy. London has so much to offer for free, from parks to exhibitions you can lose hours on adventures. Just pack a picnic and make you own games as you walk.
