Meet Johnathan Reiner! He may have trained as a Doctor, but you won't be finding anything gory in his work, rather you'll come across bright colours and anthropological exploration. You can see Reiner's work on show this September, details here.

Where did you study?: Self Taught Artist/ Medicine at UCL

Life ambition: To be content. To explore my potential and be surprised by what I find. To include creativity in everything I do.

 

What can you tell us about your artistic practice?

Creating is an essential part of who I am and has been constant since I remember myself. My practice is one of spontaneous outbursts of expression, often without a clue of where it will take me. I have been devoting my recent years to the exploration of colour, pattern, and composition through silkscreen printing, My work combines graphic and illustrative components through the use of drawing alongside manipulation of photographic textures and details, I am fascinated by relationships, tribal/ folk art, vintage portraits, childhood and the expansive and wild possibilities of imagination.

What does the Secret Art Prize mean to you?

It is a heart warming steeping stone for an unfolding adventure!
