CDG introduces Simone Webb and Roys People
Posted on June 20, 2013
We at CDG will be introducing 6 new artists over the coming weeks, this week we reveal the art of Simone Webb and Roy's People. As for the other 4, well you'll just have to wait (or give our artist list a snoop ). Expect a dash of the absurd and surreal.
First up we have Simone Webb . Juxtaposing the ethereal beauty of delicate petals and pale pinks against the depths of black backgrounds sucks you into a galaxy of dripping flora and fauna. Capturing these natural beauties before they wilt and crumble, Webb creates a permanent vision to hold onto, in ritualistic dripping gold and melting petals.
Suspended in darkness, Webb creates pale flowers that lurk decadently for your perusal, priced at £75, limited edition of 20.
If the pull of dark matter is too much, the fragile edges of petals on gauzy backgrounds will soothe your fears. Although, melting flowers reminiscent of Dali might have you on edge.
Roy's People waivers on the edge of comedy and the absurd. Hand painted miniature characters gather to create scenes of fishing over road drains in Wishful Thinking presenting you with ideas that may just be out of sight. Take a closer look, and revel in the charm of ludicrous lives. You'll never look at model villages in the same again. Prices start at £60- £250.
Simone Webb and Roy's People will be exhibiting with us for the first time during our summer bonanza The Art of Curiosity, with artist talks, residencies and meet ups being held throughout. More details here.
