Summer holiday fun! Part 1
Posted on August 8, 2013
It's the school summer holidays, and you may be entertaining your children for a few weeks ahead. So, I've decided to put together a few games and entertainment for when it all gets a bit tough (FREE activities here, too) .
For when their energy seems to know no bounds (and you really need 5 minutes), set them up with KEF!'s creatures formed of multiple lines. This plan is two-fold, firstly you can ask them to find and follow a line, which may seem a tad cruel on their eyes, but it may give you a break. And for when restlessness kicks in, bring out the reinforcements: paper, pens, paint, pencils- the whole kit for them to create their own little monsters. Feign jovility, and they may believe it is an adventure.
Hopefully after a while tiredness may kick in, or at best a little bit mellow. This is the perfect moment for story time. Taking
Otto D'Ambra's absurd victorianna etchings of anatomical heart hot air balloons carrying rhinos, amongst an array of fish/gun hybrids and frankenstein humans- the perfect back drop is provided. All you have to do is give a little prompting, start a few sentences and you can possibly fit in a nap.
Still too much energy (stop feeding them!) for you to handle? Well this is a god send for when you are too tired to speak. Conscript the help of Kareena Zerefos, and all you have to do is vaguely move your hands inspired by her hand puppets In the Shadows series. Hang a few on the wall and the rest will be done for you. Perfect.
