CDG top 5 London events!

Posted on September 20, 2013

Autumn chimes in art festivals, fairs and new exhibitions London wide. So we've picked a few of the best for the coming week, with a focus on the blockbusters to come in the following weeks. Drum roll please...

Open House
Every year London's architectural wonders and hidden gems throw their doors open for the incurably curious, and downright nosey for two short days. You can find yourself in the Gherkin, or 10 Downing Street. And of course there is Maggie's Culture Crawl for the night owls amongst you the full list of open buildings, and opening times can be found here .
Saturday 21st-Sunday 22nd
London wide
Most events are free, but check here
Expect some queues.

Victoriana: The Art of Revival
With a rise in public interest in the oddities that taxidermy offers, etchings that revile and intrigue in equal measure and sculptures by Yinka Shonibare commenting on Victorian society, you'll leave as a scholar in the absurd.
Now - 8th December
Guildhall Art Gallery and Roman London's Amphitheatre
Guildhall Yard (off Gresham Street)
London, EC2V 5AE
Open Monday- Saturday 10-5, Sunday 12-4.
Tickets £7 on the door, concessions apply.
Nearest stations Moorgate, Bank, St Paul's

Daniel Silver: Dig
Art Angel have commissioned Sculptor Silver to use The Odeon Site, littering the floor and surfaces with what to be ancient artefacts, but in reality are modern creations. But you'll have to ask in the spirit of Freud, what are these antiquities?
Now - 3rd November
The Odeon Site
24 Grafton Way
London, WC1E 6DB
Open Tuesday- Sunday 11-6.
Nearest station Tottenham Court Road
Free

London Design Festival
Now this is a city wide event, but for me it's all about Landmark Project: Endless Stair, a hardwood maze like staircase outside of the Tate Modern. Just don't fall off the edge, and probably visit with trustworthy friends (also the reason it closes at dusk).
Now- 10th October
Tate Modern
London, SE1 9TG
Open
Nearest stations Blackfriars, Southwark and St Paul's.
Free 9 am to dusk.
