As Wide As A Door Is Open: Material Images at Fold Gallery
“Picking up on hints hidden in the accumulated conventions of the strange class of objects we call pictures, the early abstract artists began this exploration. The five artists in As Wide As A Door Is Open extend it, each developing personal formal languages which go beyond form. The images in As Wide As A Door Is Open are to be understood instinctively, whether this comes with a jolt or a slowly dawning realisation. To understand them verbally is to not understand them at all.”

Jewyo Rhii at Wilkinson Gallery
Time Out says the Korean artist creates ramshackle installations that react to the world around her.
Jewyo Rhii's practice shows a struggle to cope with the world. She is an artist who has developed a unique body of work that comes from her sensitive responses to her surroundings. Born in Korea, she travels frequently, including spending the last 10 years in Western Europe and the USA. These conditions of constant movement form one of the bases of her work.
