If you thought Kate Knight’s solo show These Fragile Things was just about endangered animals, I’ll have to let you in to a secret; These Fragile Things is also about the heart.
Marmite Art prize runner up Kate Knight’s artwork showcases the beauty of endangered animals in all their gold leafed glory. Working across large-scale watercolours, and biro drawings Knight lavishes exquisite details on an American kestrel, a Brown billed Sicklebill and a queen bee to name a few. However, if you’ve visited the exhibition you would have also found Romancing Rococo and The Beat and The Bone. These heart sculptures sit in a carefully handmade landscape that goes beyond anatomy and delves into the fragility of our hearts and hopes. The history of the baroque and rococo art movements heavily influence knight; Knight has brought forward associations with prosperity and mirth from the Baroque period to present her heart series.
Wait! We have even more news; you can give your very own art heart to your loved ones! All you have to do is write a letter to Kate Knight’s love letter service, telling her all about your relationship with your partner, lover, best friend, sister, maybe your mum; it can be anyone that you love. Send it to 173 Whitecross Street, London EC1Y 8JT, or email [email protected]
, with the story of your relationship and what makes your loved one special, or any details that you would like to share. Artist Kate Knight will then hand craft you a bespoke heart, priced at £500. Give your very own modern Faberge egg for a love that time cannot forget.
