Summer Art Trends

Posted on May 30, 2013

Summer tropics may be wishful thinking, but allow a girl some hope! Or we could just make a group effort to follow this summer's trend of tropical prints and bright sunshine colours? A summer reconstruction group project, I'll show you how it's done.

Still not feeling the prickle of sweat? Okay, Kristin Gaudio Endsley brings us Heat with Paint 2 to up the temperature. The smeary haze of the watercolour painting, interjected with blushes of pink prompts images of vibrant oasis lands and thicketts of jungle that leave you calling for water. Now that you're feeling listless with heat, meet The Pioneer , limply propped up, the women stares out forlornly against a rainbow of baked colours. This collaboartion between Kristin and Hannah Adamaszek is the perfect sweltering back drop; we really are creating summer here.

Next, we need some dusty countryside tracks. Emily Hannon runs us through the Road to the School House with its dappled yellow mist to offer shelter from the glaring sun (if we all keep believeing this, it may come true). Pink Irises https://curiousdukegallery.com/original-art/171-pink-irises shows the white heat of summer that we can all look forward to, just look deeply into the glare of the sun melting the pinks and oranges. Looking at the actual sun is not recommended.

And one last attempt at Summer, take Vicky Scott's Through Rose-tinted Glasses . You can literally don some shades, or spread this primary coloured digital print across you wall for waves of warmth. If your Summer faith falters anymore, retreat from the Bristish Summer to Floating Island or Alpine Odyssey for a quick fix of sunshine. Gloriously colourful and prices start at £100 for a summer that lasts longer a bank holiday afternoon.

Now all you need is some events to look forward to. For invites to private views, artists talks and and this Summers Carnival of Curiosity exhibition, join our mailing list here.
